Homemade hummus

It is pretty obvious that I have a massive sweet tooth but I also do enjoy savoury snacks. One of my favourite go-to snack is hummus with rice crackers. I love to make my own hummus because I tweak the taste according to my liking. I’m a huge fan of chili and garlic, hence I like my hummus to be spicy and garlicky. Yum!


  1. 2x 400g canned chick pea drained and rinsed
  2. 1/2 cup tahini
  3. 1/2 cup lemon juice
  4. 1/2 cup olive oil
  5. 1/2 cup water
  6. 4 garlic cloves peeled
  7. 1 fresh red chili (optional)
  8. 1 tbsp mixed herbs
  9. 1 tsp cumin
  10. 1 tsp parika
  11. 1 tsp black peppercorn
  12. 1 tsp chili flakes
  13. 1/2 tsp salt


  1. Add all the ingredients into a food processor and blend it until a smooth consistency
  2. Place it in the fridge to chill for at least 3 hours before serving
