Tassie Adventure

Have you ever thought of visiting Tasmania? This beautiful island situated off the south of Australia is a reminiscence of New Zealand. It’s harsh climate and landscape create one of the most beautiful scenery in the world. I visited Tasmania twice – Once in November 2014 and again in April 2016. There is just so much to see and do in Tasmania that I am thinking of going again. Depending on what you like to do, a good amount of time to spend in Tasmania will be at least 5 nights. I’ve complied my itineraries for both trips and hope that it will spur your interest to make it your next holiday destination. Day 1 Hobart – Wine Glass Bay (167km) We drove from Hobart airport to Wine Glass Bay. The drive took us about 2.5hours and we stayed a night at Swansea – Sheoaks Moana View. It cost us 160aud a night and we had the whole place to ourselves. The drive from Sheoaks to Wine Glass Bay was about 15min. You have to pay a …

The Melbourne Road Trip

Melbourne, the coffee capital of Australia. I lived here for a year and fell in love with the cafe culture (click here for my 10 favourite cafes in Melbourne). Besides the hustle and bustle of the city, Melbourne is easily accessible to one of the World’s famous scenic coastal drive – the Great Ocean Road and untouched nature parks – The Grampians, Wilsons Promontory. I’ve complied all my road trip itineraries that I’ve done in the past into a six days road trip and hope that you’ll enjoy it as much as I did! Day 1 Melbourne – Geelong – Lorne – Apollo Bay (Total distance ~ 204km) Geelong Depart Melbourne for Geelong (~75km). Geelong, Victoria’s second largest city and the gateway to the start of the Great Ocean Road. For those who are not interested in Museums, there is nothing much to see and do there except taking a walk along the water front or discovering hippie cafes along Pakington Street. You can stop by Three Little Figs for a good brunch before hitting the …

Taipei food guide

Taipei, the city that comes alive at night. It is famous for its night markets and delicious street food. The food was so good that I was eating nonstop from morning till night that I was suffering from indigestion. The best time to travel to Taiwan will be in April – May and September – October. I visited Taiwan in December 2011 and it was their monsoon season – it just rained all day. This time, I went in late June 2015 and it was insanely hot and humid – 36 degrees, I felt that I was going to pass out in the heat. I wouldn’t recommend staying more than 3 days in Taipei because it does get boring after a while. If you are looking for accommodation, Xi Men Ding (西门町) and Taipei Main Station are convenient locations to stay at. The main language spoken in Taiwan is Mandarin – if you don’t speak it, don’t worry, most of the people have a basic command of English. They also speak Hokkien which sounds so much better than …

Dining in mystical Jeju

This mystical island seems to have the best of both worlds. The ocean providing islanders with abundant amount of seafood. There you can find the freshest abalone, juiciest cuttlefish and tastiest mackerel. Its fertile volcanic soil is also the perfect condition for the growing of tangerines, mushrooms and tea. Besides its fresh produce and seafood, Jeju is also famous for its black pork. One of the most popular meals is black pork barbecue which is not to be missed. As I speak and write no korean, I’ll be categorising by food and showing pictures of the names of the restaurants. Hopefully you will be able to find these restaurants and get to understand the food culture of this mystical island. Abalone porridge and seafood soup Tel: 782-1089 This is my favourite restaurant in Jeju. It is conveniently located near Seongsan Ilchulbong and is extremely popular amongst tourists and locals. The abalone porridge there is delicious! The seafood soup had a generous amount of seafood with five whole juicy abalone in it. It’s just too good …
